HTC Grinding shoes concrete terrazzo floor pads – with Single bar segment HTC Diamond Grinding Tools with 1pc rectangle segment
1. When to Use Single Bar Shoes
• Hard Concrete: If you are struggling to “open up” a very hard, high-PSI concrete floor, single bars provide the downward pressure needed to keep the diamonds from glazing over.
• Lightweight Grinders: On smaller or single-phase machines that lack the head weight of a large industrial grinder, single bars ensure the tool actually engages with the surface rather than just skating over it.
• Thin Coating Removal: They are excellent for “scarifying” or removing thin layers of paint, glue, or epoxy because they “plow” through the material more effectively than a flat double-bar.
• Exposing Aggregate: If the goal is a “salt and pepper” or large aggregate look, the single bar will cut through the cream layer much faster.
2. Choosing the Right Bond
To get the most out of your HTC tooling, you must match the metal bond to the hardness of your concrete (measured by a Mohs scratch test):
• Soft Bond: Use on Hard concrete. The bond wears away quickly to reveal fresh diamonds.
• Medium Bond: Use on Medium hardness concrete.
• Hard Bond: Use on Soft/Abrasive concrete. A hard bond prevents the abrasive concrete from eating through your segment too quickly.
