The Redi-Lock with 2×1/4 PCD & 1 Bar Segment is the go-to tool for removing medium-thick coatings where you want to balance speed with a controlled finish.

Compare to the 3X1/4 PCD, this 2-PCD version is slightly more aggressive because the machine’s weight is concentrated on two points instead of three.

1. Why Choose 2 PCDs instead of 3?
Higher Point Pressure: With only two 1/4 chips, each chip bites deeper into the coating. This makes it better than the 3-PCD version for slightly thicker or tougher materials that a 3-PCD might “skate” over.

Faster Cutting: It removes material slightly faster in most conditions because the chips are less likely to get “clogged” with debris, as there is more open space on the tool face.

2. The Stabilizing Bar (The “Wear Bar”)
Just like the other configurations, the 1 Bar Segment is essential here:

The Depth Gauge: It limits how deep the two PCD chips can dive. Without this bar, the 2×1/4 PCDs would likely “trench” the floor or chatter violently.

The Scratch Pattern: The bar is usually a coarse metal-bond diamond (around 20-30 grit). It grinds the floor while the PCDs scrape, which helps “clean up” the aggressive gouges and prepares the concrete for the next step of metal bonds.
